I had a terrible experience with uber this morning around 1: 30 am in South Africa. It's worst experience ever. I need to fight for my right cause uber try to fraud me after dumping me like trash on the road and left with my female guess. Wow can't believe South Africa uber do this.
I have made use of UBER Cabs, living in Pretoria area, for the past two months, the fare has always been exactly the same, however yesterday on a ride from Rietfontein to Queenswood, and from Queenswood to Waverly (which is a shorter distance) the fare more than doubled, it was the exact same time, the ride back to Rietfontein from Waverly was correct, the guy saying we not busy at all................... what is going on it was the same driver from Rietfontein to Queenswood the fare was near to double than what it had been the previous times, the same driver on the ride from Queenswood to Waverly (a much shorter distance than that of Rietfontein to Queenswood) the fare near to triple, same driver, when I questioned him he said it goes on demand and they very busy, BULL............. suddenly the ride home was right different driver, I do not buy that nonsense sorry.............. the guy who rode me home said WE ARE NOT BUSY AT ALL THE WHOLE MORNING, THERE IS NO DEMAND today.......... if this continues I will make use of another cab service, bunch of cheating going on with certain drivers finished, the one guy last Sunday I told him it stated on the app it is this price he tried to double it, i put the money in his hand and said have a good day............. please see to it or I will make use of another service, also sometimes a ten minutes wait turns into a forty minute wait making one have to call again and again and again

Charged twice for a trip on 27 March 2017. Uber refuses to reverse the charge. Every time I contact them they have a different excuse / explanation. I want my money back now!!
Used uber last night 7pm. Wallet fell out in back seat. Only realised it was gone at 4pm next day. Driver had wallet but never called. He's claims another passenger gave him the wallet. I am confused as to how your promo-codes are applied, I was looking at the trip I took on the 5 April 2017 where it says the subtotal for my trip is R158 and I should have paid R103. This statement is untrue because I paid the driver R158 not R103 meaning my code did not apply in time before I paid. The Thursday trip of R25, the driver cancelled on me so I don't understand how that is billed on me when I waited for the driver and he never showed up.
Due to this I need clarity on the trip I took on the 29 March 2017 at 7:55am because it says I took a trip to Airport, that too is untrue because my trip was to BEllvile so this means I was overcharged on my trip. I kept quiet because it was my first trip and I did not understand how Uber works, now that I have a bit of understanding I need clarity please.

Hi, I had an outstanding payment of R25.00 from 01/04/2017 when the driver refused to take me with groceries and 4 passengers. I asked him to cancel it on his side since he did not want to take us. I then request another Uber and I could see the driver drove all around the parking and he was not even looking in my direction and after a while it showed that he cancelled the trip. I then requested Uber a 3rd time, but the driver never even arrived at my destination, the GPs showed that he was gonna be 11 minutes, but he did not even move from one place for about 5 minutes. Please note that I am disabled and can't run when I see Uber arrive and the drivers don't even look in my direction in order for me the wave at them. I have never had problems with Uber until now. Now I am stuck with no transport to go anywhere, I can't even go to the shops or church because it is too far to walk. I added a debit card and an amount of R13.34 was debited from my account. I then made a payment for R25.00 and an amount of R11.66 was debited. On Saturday 06/05/2017 I requested Uber and paid R23.00 by debit card. On my return trip the fee was R22, less a R2.00 discount, but it showed an outstanding amount of R50.00 which I had to pay the driver. Where did the extra R50.00 al of a sudden came. I think Uber is ripping us off big time. Please refund my money ASAP or I will have Uber blacklisted. Enough is enough.

Of course, I had paid by EFT and therefore I had lost my fare without the driver even telling me he could no longer wait - he drove off while i was right in front of him!!

In response to all the negative comments I have been reading about the Uber drivers. I use only Uber. I use them 4 to 6 times per day, mainly in the Joburg and East Rand areas. For the past 4 months that I have used Uber I have never had a bad experience, never had them try to cheat me. All the drivers that I have had have always been well mannered and treated me like a customer that I would expect from them. The reason I decided to write this review is to praise Uber on the professional way I have been treated amidst all the negative reviews they too deserve a positive review. The only incident I had yesterday was at East Rand Mall on calling for Uber outside the Game entrance was two lowlife meter taxis guys tried to intimidate me and followed me down the road for approximately 1km in till they cowardly went back to the mall to intimidate some other unsuspecting Uber customer. Time that the police with their special task force do some real work... I would never use a meter taxi only Uber for me. Even if I have to walk where I need to be. Well done Uber.
Used the Uber service for the first time. The amount quoted before accepting on my phone and the amount i was charged when i arrived at my destination were not the same. I was overcharged and the driver told me that is the amount showing on his phone and that i must pay that amount. Disgusted in the service and feel like i have been cheated and robbed. Will never ever use there service again. First impressions are last impressions. No wonder their license has been cancelled in the UK. obviously they cannot match up to their standards. I was give a driver by the name Aaron, he came and never stopped then he cancelled the tripped they gave me another driver, he also cancelled the trip and the they gave me the 3rd driver who took forever to come whenever I cancelled to try and rebooked again It now shows that I have to pay R25 for Aaron who never even stopped, I am sorry I have been using Uber for sometime now I never experienced such a shocking experience with your service. Dishonest crooks! From the busstop in DBN, I neede a taxi to take me to the Sinfonia drop off zone. I went onto the internet and came accross a available taxi namely ND626082 Toyota Corolla which stated 4.2 km to my destination and that the cost will be R 32.00. When my father and I got in the taxi driver had no idea where to go. I tried to explain to him that we need to get to the MSC Sinfonia cruise ship. He drove to where the container are offloaded and were lost. He failed to use his gps. He stopped at various places asking people for directions. His boss, BK, phoned him to which the driver said I gave him the wrong address but I had all the information on my phone when I was looking for a taxi... When BK spoke to me, he and the driver instructed me to pay R 245.00 otherwise me and my father would not be allowed to get out of the taxi. I did not receive a receipt or anything. The one lady had to explain 5 times and asked him why he wasn't using his gps... This was a horrible experience for me as I was taken advantage of and pushed in a corner and threatened. This was the companies' mistake and I await this company to refund my money! I would strongly urge people to NOT use this company. DISHONEST AND CROOKES!!!!!!!!!!

The Thursday trip of R25, the driver cancelled on me so I don't understand how that is billed on me when I waited for the driver and he never showed up.
Due to this I need clarity on the trip I took on the 29 March 2017 at 7:55am because it says I took a trip to Airport, that too is untrue because my trip was to BEllvile so this means I was overcharged on my trip. I kept quiet because it was my first trip and I did not understand how Uber works, now that I have a bit of understanding I need clarity please.
I hope to hear from you soon as I am currently disappointed with Uber.

Uber is very unreliable and the drivers are very unproffesional and incompetent. I have changed to taxify- faster, cheaper, always on time and great service.

ReplyDeleteHi, I had an outstanding payment of R25.00 from 01/04/2017 when the driver refused to take me with groceries and 4 passengers. I asked him to cancel it on his side since he did not want to take us. I then request another Uber and I could see the driver drove all around the parking and he was not even looking in my direction and after a while it showed that he cancelled the trip. I then requested Uber a 3rd time, but the driver never even arrived at my destination, the GPs showed that he was gonna be 11 minutes, but he did not even move from one place for about 5 minutes. Please note that I am disabled and can't run when I see Uber arrive and the drivers don't even look in my direction in order for me the wave at them. I have never had problems with Uber until now. Now I am stuck with no transport to go anywhere, I can't even go to the shops or church because it is too far to walk. I added a debit card and an amount of R13.34 was debited from my account. I then made a payment for R25.00 and an amount of R11.66 was debited. On Saturday 06/05/2017 I requested Uber and paid R23.00 by debit card. On my return trip the fee was R22, less a R2.00 discount, but it showed an outstanding amount of R50.00 which I had to pay the driver. Where did the extra R50.00 al of a sudden came. I think Uber is ripping us off big time. Please refund my money ASAP or I will have Uber blacklisted. Enough is enough.

I got outside and got stuck behind the safety gate that could not open. I showed him again I'm sorry - please wait while I try to get the gate open - AND HE DROVE AWAY!!! Of course, I had paid by EFT and therefore I had lost my fare without the driver even telling me he could no longer wait - he drove off while i was right in front of him!!

DeleteIn response to all the negative comments I have been reading about the Uber drivers. I use only Uber. I use them 4 to 6 times per day, mainly in the Joburg and East Rand areas. For the past 4 months that I have used Uber I have never had a bad experience, never had them try to cheat me. All the drivers that I have had have always been well mannered and treated me like a customer that I would expect from them. The reason I decided to write this review is to praise Uber on the professional way I have been treated amidst all the negative reviews they too deserve a positive review. The only incident I had yesterday was at East Rand Mall on calling for Uber outside the Game entrance was two lowlife meter taxis guys tried to intimidate me and followed me down the road for approximately 1km in till they cowardly went back to the mall to intimidate some other unsuspecting Uber customer. Time that the police with their special task force do some real work... I would never use a meter taxi only Uber for me. Even if I have to walk where I need to be. Well done Uber.

I was overcharged and the driver told me that is the amount showing on his phone and that i must pay that amount. Disgusted in the service and feel like i have been cheated and robbed. Will never ever use there service again. First impressions are last impressions. No wonder their license has been cancelled in the UK. obviously they cannot match up to their standards. South Africa should follow suit.

I requested an uber yesterday at night from Cape Gate to Protea Heights. I was give a driver by the name Aaron, he came and never stopped then he cancelled the tripped they gave me another driver, he also cancelled the trip and the they gave me the 3rd driver who took forever to come whenever I cancelled to try and rebooked again It now shows that I have to pay R25 for Aaron who never even stopped, I am sorry I have been using Uber for sometime now I never experienced such a shocking experience with your service. ReplyDeleteFrom the busstop in DBN, I neede a taxi to take me to the Sinfonia drop off zone. I went onto the internet and came accross a available taxi namely ND626082 Toyota Corolla which stated 4.2 km to my destination and that the cost will be R 32.00. When my father and I got in the taxi driver had no idea where to go. I tried to explain to him that we need to get to the MSC Sinfonia cruise ship. He drove to where the container are offloaded and were lost. He failed to use his gps. He stopped at various places asking people for directions. His boss, BK, phoned him to which the driver said I gave him the wrong address but I had all the information on my phone when I was looking for a taxi... When BK spoke to me, he and the driver instructed me to pay R 245.00 otherwise me and my father would not be allowed to get out of the taxi. I did not receive a receipt or anything. The one lady had to explain 5 times and asked him why he wasn't using his gps... This was a horrible experience for me as I was taken advantage of and pushed in a corner and threatened. This was the companies' mistake and I await this company to refund my money! I would strongly urge people to NOT use this company. DISHONEST AND CROOKES!!!!!!!!!!
